5 Questions on Leadership #2 (of 6)
I wrote a post a week or so ago about 5 Questions on Leadership. I thought I would spend this week going into some detail about each of these questions and how they relate to Consumed Student Ministries.
1) What is our mission?
Our mission is simple. We want to develop students who are consumed by the power of God. It’s short. It’s easy to remember. It’s hard to forget. It’s simple, but, at the same time it’s incredibly complex.
When we say consumed we don’t mean your typical average teenage church goer. We don’t want students to pray. We don’t want students to worship. We don’t want students to serve. We don’t want students to be Christ-followers…
We want them to desire these things.
We want to develop students who desire prayer more than anything else in the world. We want to develop students who desire worshipping their creator. We want to develop students who desire to serve others and their God. We want to develop students who desire to be Christ-followers with everything in them.
The American church has created a culture for teenagers that tells them they are the church of the future. People tell them that one day they will do something great for God. People tell them that they are going to grow up and impact the world. Everything is future. But why? Why can’t students be the church now? Why can’t students do something great for God now? Why can’t students impact the world now?
This is our mission. We want to develop students who’s entire passion and existence in life is to be consumed by the power of God in such a real way that they are willing to do whatever it takes to impact their world for Christ today… not in 10 years.
